Chapter 91 - The Sniper’s Arc

The crimson laser dot burned steadily against the fabric of Elena’s dress, directly over her heart. Time warped into agonizing milliseconds. Victoria’s finger was tightening on the trigger of her silenced automatic, her lips curled into a manic snarl, while the digital timer on the floor-mounted console flashed relentlessly:

**02:54... 02:53... 02:52...**

Alexander did not hesitate. Throwing every ounce of his weight forward, he launched himself into Victoria’s line of fire. But before Victoria’s hammer could fall, a deafening crack split the air above.

The bullet did not come from Victoria’s gun, nor did the sniper above target Elena.

The high-velocity round plunged downward from the catwalk, shattering Victoria’s right wrist in a spray of bone and blood. Her silenced pistol clattered onto the marble floor, spinning harmlessly toward the edge of the fountain. Victoria let out a piercing shriek, clutching her shattered arm against her crimson gown.

High above, through the swirling clouds of dust and falling glass, the hooded figure on the catwalk pulled down his mask. It was Marcus Vance, flanked by two elite Blackwood tactical operators.

"Target secured!" Marcus roared through the tactical comms, his voice echoing across the locked-down ballroom. "Alexander! The basement override is locked from the local terminal! The countdown is hardwired to the primary HVAC manifold!"

Victoria collapsed to her knees, laughing through a choked veil of blood and agony. "It doesn't matter! Shoot me, kill me—it changes nothing! Julian’s fail-safe requires a dead man’s pulse to abort! None of you can stop it! In two minutes, we burn together!"

Alexander rushed to the master console near the podium. The screen was flashing bright amber:

**CRITICAL SYSTEM FAILURE: LNG PURGE INITIATED. DETONATION SEQUENCE IRREVERSIBLE WITHOUT LEVEL-9 BIOMETRIC RECONCILIATION.**

"Elena, look at me," Alexander grabbed her hands, his eyes blazing with desperate clarity. "Your father didn't build this to kill you. You said it yourself in Zurich—Julian hid you to protect the key. Aegis-7 isn't just code. It's your blood."

The timer ticked below two minutes: **01:48... 01:47...**

Panic erupted among the three hundred oligarchs trapped behind the blast shutters. Billionaires, prime ministers, and Sovereign power-brokers slammed their fists against the reinforced titanium doors, weeping and pleading for mercy. The illusion of their untouchable supremacy dissolved into primal terror.

Elena knelt beside the humming console. Her hands shook, but when she looked into Alexander’s steady gaze—the man who had walked through hell, broken his own empire, and offered his life just to stand between her and a bullet—the tremor in her fingers vanished.

"Give me your hand, Alexander," Elena whispered softly.

"Why mine?"

"Because Julian knew that power without love is just tyranny," she said, her voice cutting through the sirens. "He designed the cipher for two. The architect... and the protector."

Together, their fingers pressed against the biometric glass.
