Chapter 89 - The Sister's Reckoning

At the center of the grand gallery, displayed inside a cylindrical case of bulletproof, electrified glass, sat the prize of the evening: Julian Sinclair’s leather-bound Genesis Journal, flanked by the antique music box that had sat on Elena’s flower shop counter for three long years.
Surrounding the display were the high-ranking members of the Sovereign council. And standing beside the glass case, dressed in a daring scarlet gown that looked like spilled blood against the white marble, was Victoria Sterling.
A ripple of sudden silence swept through the room as the crowd parted.
Alexander and Elena walked down the central aisle, unhurried, their footsteps echoing with unmistakable authority.
Victoria’s eyes widened for a fraction of a second—genuine shock flickering across her features before dissolving into an icy, triumphant smirk. She clapped her hands together in slow, mocking applause.
"Little sister," Victoria purred, stepping forward. "I must applaud your courage. Walking straight into the lion's den. And Alexander... still playing the gallant white knight for a woman you abandoned for pennies."
"I paid a hundred and fifty million to keep her away from monsters like you," Alexander replied coldly, stepping up beside Elena. "And tonight, I'm bankrupting your entire syndicate."
"With what?" Victoria laughed, gesturing to the billionaires surrounding them. "You are broke, Vance. Your accounts in New York have been frozen by federal injunctions orchestrated by our senators. Your assets are worthless!"
"Federal injunctions only work if the banking clearinghouse is still solvent, Victoria," Alexander said, checking his platinum wristwatch. "It is precisely 10:14 PM. Marcus just initiated the cross-collateralization cascade using the forty billion I dumped into your Zurich escrow."
The phone in Baron Roth’s pocket suddenly buzzed violently. Then another phone buzzed. Then a dozen more.
The council members pulled out their encrypted devices, their faces instantly draining of all color.
"What is this?!" Baron Roth gasped, stumbling backward. "Our primary liquidity pools in Frankfurt and London... they've been liquidated! Over six hundred billion dollars in leveraged bonds... vanished into the federal reserve default pool!"
Victoria’s smile vanished, her eyes blazing with fury. "What did you do?!"
"Alexander didn't do that," Elena said, stepping directly in front of her half-sister, her voice steady and commanding. "I did. Aegis-7 wasn't in the Black Forest, Victoria. Father never kept the final execution code in a physical server. He placed it inside the one thing you never bothered to examine."

Elena reached into her small evening purse, pulled out a small silver key—the real key Julian had sewn into the velvet lining of her wedding dress—and held it up for the entire room to see.
"Father knew your ambition would bring you back to Zurich," Elena said coldly. "He built this entire trap twenty-five years ago. Not to destroy the world... but to destroy you."
