Chapter 8 - The New Beginning at Ellison Global

Down in the bright, modern atrium of Ellison Global Technologies, the atmosphere was filled with warmth and genuine laughter. Rosa stood beside a newly installed interactive display board that detailed the company's groundbreaking employee welfare and family support initiatives. Her uniform had changed from the humble, dust-worn attire of a penthouse maid to a sharp, professional business-casual suit, but her trademark humility and gentle warmth remained unchanged.
Beside her, three-year-old Lily was busy drawing colorful pictures on a digital drawing tablet provided by the company’s creative design team. Wearing her favorite pink socks and hugging a brand-new, premium plush rabbit gifted to her by Marcus, Lily was the undisputed queen of the atrium. Employees walking past smiled warmly, stopping to chat and share a kind word with the little girl who had inadvertently changed the course of corporate history.
"Mommy," Lily announced loudly, holding up her digital tablet for Rosa to see. "Look! I drew Mr. Marcus with a superhero cape!"
Rosa chuckled, kneeling down to admire the adorable, clumsy digital sketch of the billionaire tech mogul flying across the screen. "That is wonderful, sweetie. I think Mr. Marcus would love that."
"He certainly does," a familiar, deep voice echoed from behind them.
Rosa stood up quickly, turning to see Marcus Ellison walking toward them, wearing a relaxed cashmere sweater instead of his usual formal black tuxedo. He knelt down to Lily's eye level, gazing at the tablet with genuine amusement.
"A superhero cape, Miss Lily?" Marcus asked with a warm smile. "Does this mean I get to fly around the office and chase away bad guys?"
Lily giggled, nodding enthusiastically. "Yes! And you have a shield to protect us from the scary monsters!"
Marcus’s expression softened, though a fleeting shadow of fierce determination crossed his eyes. He knew that the real world wasn't a fairy tale, and that dark forces were still lurking beyond the safety of the penthouse walls. But looking at Lily's bright, unblemished smile, he felt an unbreakable vow solidify within his soul. No monster—corporate or criminal—would ever touch this family while he was alive.
"Thank you, Lily," Marcus said softly, resting a hand gently on her shoulder. "I'll make sure that shield never breaks."
Rosa looked at the billionaire, her eyes shining with unshed tears of deep gratitude. "Mr. Ellison... I still can't find the words to thank you for everything you've done for us. Giving me this job, securing our future, keeping us safe... it feels like a dream."
May you like
"It's not a dream, Rosa," Marcus replied firmly, standing up and meeting her gaze with absolute sincerity. "You and Lily gave me back my company, my life, and my humanity. We take care of our own here. You are family now."
Little did they know, across the street, parked inside a tinted black sedan, a pair of cold, calculating eyes watched them through a high-powered camera lens. Kaelen had arrived.
