Chapter 6 - The Aftermath and the New Horizon

The morning sun broke over the Manhattan skyline, casting a warm, golden glow across the newly reorganized offices of Ellison Global Technologies. Gone was the oppressive, sterile tension that had characterized the executive suites under Harrison Vance’s shadow. In its place stood a vibrant atmosphere of renewed purpose, transparency, and unshakeable corporate integrity.
Marcus Ellison sat at his minimalist glass desk, reviewing the final restructuring reports submitted by the federal investigative team. The fallout from the engagement gala scandal had sent shockwaves through Wall Street and Hollywood alike. Diana Caldwell’s glittering career was effectively incinerated overnight; her face had vanished from billboards, her multi-million-dollar endorsement contracts were dissolved, and she sat in a maximum-security holding facility awaiting trial for industrial espionage and cyber-terrorism. Harrison Vance and his co-conspirators on the board were similarly facing multiple federal counts of corporate conspiracy.
Yet, amidst the chaos of legal proceedings and media frenzies, a profound sense of calm had settled over Marcus. For years, he had lived his life surrounded by sycophants, calculating socialites, and corporate predators who viewed human relationships as mere transactional currency. The night Lily crawled under the table had shattered that artificial illusion forever.
A soft knock interrupted his thoughts. The door opened to reveal Arthur Vance, carrying a fresh tablet of market analytics and a steaming cup of dark roast coffee.
"Morning, boss," Arthur said, placing the tablet on the desk. "The pre-market trading numbers are in. Project Prometheus is officially cleared, our cybersecurity audit is locked down at 100%, and the new sovereign venture capital partners are thrilled with our governance restructuring."
Marcus looked up, a faint smile touching his lips. "Good. Make sure every single developer and security engineer involved in the Prometheus protocol gets a substantial performance bonus. They earned it."
"Will do," Arthur grinned. Then, his expression softened slightly. "By the way, Rosa and Lily are downstairs in the atrium. Rosa officially starts her new role as the Director of Community Outreach and Staff Welfare today. She’s setting up the pilot program for our single-parent employee support fund."

Marcus nodded approvingly. "That program is our top priority, Arthur. No one working inside this building should ever have to choose between their career dignity and providing a secure future for their children."
As Arthur stepped out, Marcus walked over to the floor-to-ceiling windows, looking down at the bustling streets below. He realized that true wealth wasn't measured in market capitalization or algorithmic dominance. It was built on trust, honesty, and the rare, courageous voices that refused to let darkness hide beneath the surface. But little did Marcus know, the remnants of Harrison’s underground syndicate were already plotting a dangerous retaliation from the shadows.
