Chapter 13 - The Digital Cage Slams Shut

Deep within the subterranean control bunker of the Brooklyn mill—now converted into a high-tech mobile tactical command hub—Marcus Ellison stood motionless before a towering bank of high-definition monitoring displays. Beside him stood the lead federal cyber-crime investigator and a dozen heavily armed tactical security specialists, their armor plates strapped tight, weapons locked and loaded for immediate engagement.
"They have successfully breached checkpoint three," Arthur whispered quietly, tapping the glass partition of the console to highlight the advancing thermal signatures. "Kaelen and his primary strike team are heading straight for the second-floor data vault. Exactly where our honeypot program wants them to be."
Marcus’s expression remained an absolute mask of glacial ice. There was no hesitation in his posture, no flicker of doubt in his eyes. "Let them penetrate the primary server room. Once their lead technician plugs the decryption interface cable directly into our master terminal, trigger the electromagnetic pulse locks simultaneously with the physical pneumatic deadbolts. Trap every single rat inside before they even realize the data stream is toxic."
On the glowing surveillance monitors overhead, Kaelen and his three elite operatives could be seen breaching the heavy steel-reinforced double doors of the server room. The room was shrouded in darkness, illuminated only by the rhythmic, hypnotic flashing of a single standalone server rack containing the decoy data packets.
Kaelen strode forward with arrogant confidence, stepping purposefully over scattered concrete debris and rusted piping. He reached into his tactical vest, pulled out a high-speed data interface cable tipped with gold-plated connectors, and tossed it to his technical specialist.
"Hook it up right now," Kaelen ordered, his voice echoing sharply off the concrete walls. "Let's strip this server down to its silicon bones before Ellison’s primary security firewall in Manhattan can even register an anomaly."
The technician slammed the heavy metal interface connector directly into the master terminal’s primary data port. An instant later, a progress bar flashed brilliantly across the monitor screen, displaying an active download sequence in stark, glowing green text: Downloading Project Prometheus... 12%... 34%... 68%... 91%...
A dark, triumphant smirk curled across Kaelen’s scarred lips. He crossed his arms over his chest, feeling the adrenaline rush of victory. "Too easy. Ellison is losing his edge. He's nothing more than a pampered coder playing at being a king."
Suddenly, the progress bar slammed to a violent, abrupt halt at exactly 89%. The entire monitor screen flashed a blinding, aggressive crimson red. Bold, unyielding white warning text scrolled relentlessly down the display: ACCESS DENIED. TRACE ROUTINE COMPLETE. FEDERAL ARREST WARRANT ACTIVE. SYSTEM LOCKDOWN ENGAGED.

Before Kaelen could even process the warning, the heavy steel entrance doors of the server room slammed shut with a deafening, metallic clank that echoed like a gunshot through the building, automatically engaging automated pneumatic deadbolts and high-voltage electromagnetic clamps.
Kaelen’s triumphant smirk vanished in an instant, replaced by a mask of cold, feral panic. He spun around, throwing his full body weight against the steel door and slamming his fists into the reinforced metal. "Ambush! It’s a trap! Get us out of here, override the panel now!"
