Chapter 60 - The Sovereign Eclipse

The acoustic counter-frequency did not merely shatter Nikolai’s interface; it reversed the polarity of the transmission grid.

A catastrophic cascade of electrical feedback ripped through the servers on the stage. The massive holographic displays exploded into showers of sparks and blue flame. Across the Hudson River, the communication masts on the three black-hull frigates erupted in blinding fireballs, their systems overloaded by the resonant surge Caroline had engineered from beyond the grave.

Victoria Vance stumbled backward, her pristine white gown stained with smoke and ash. Her face twisted into an expression of unhinged, apocalyptic rage.

"You fools!" Victoria screamed, clutching the smoking ruins of the master console. "You think you've saved him?! You think you've won?!"

She pulled a secondary remote from the lining of her dress—an ancient, gold-plated transmitter stamped with the Ouroboros.

"The neural mesh was only phase one!" Victoria shrieked, backing toward the rear glass balcony that overlooked the river. "The synchronization signal was not just an override for the city—it was a beacon! It summoned the Sovereign Ark from the abyssal trenches of the North Atlantic!"

Ethan stood up slowly, gently passing the unconscious Nikolai into Elena's arms. He picked up his sidearm from the floor, his eyes completely hollowed by lethal intent. He advanced on Victoria Vance step by step, the cracked bones in his chest screaming with every breath, yet his stride was that of an executioner that nothing on earth could halt.

"Your syndicate is dead, Victoria," Ethan said, his voice echoing over the crackling fires. "Your daughter is dead. And your masters are going to watch you die."

"My masters do not bleed, Ethan Hawthorne!" Victoria laughed hysterically, tears of madness streaming down her cheeks. "Look to the water! Look at what you've awakened!"

Ethan did not look. He raised his weapon and aimed it directly between Victoria Vance’s cold, ice-blue eyes.

Before his finger could squeeze the trigger, a deafening, subsonic roar shook the very tectonic plates beneath the island of Manhattan.

The glass dome above them completely shattered, raining crystalline daggers down into the empty theater. The waters of the Hudson River violently surged backward, creating a terrifying, forty-foot receding wave that left the riverbed exposed in a churning vortex of mud and steam.

From the black depths of the Atlantic trench, rising slowly through the harbor fog like an apocalyptic leviathan, emerged a vessel of staggering, impossible proportions—a stealth dreadnought the size of an aircraft carrier, completely triangular in geometry, its hull composed of light-absorbing black metamaterials that seemed to bend the stormy night sky around it.

On the bridge of the colossal dreadnought, a single, towering red light flickered to life.

Simultaneously, every communication device in the room, every radio on Dante's vest, and the very speakers embedded into the auditorium walls crackled with a terrifying, ancient presence.

A voice spoke—not synthesized, not through a proxy, but the raw, terrifying voice of the true Shadow Emperor, broadcasting from the bridge of the Leviathan:

*"The vessel has been purged. The biological key has failed. Initiate Protocol Omega. Erase the Eastern Seaboard from the map."*

On the obsidian dais, the dead console suddenly flashed with a three-minute ballistic countdown.

Victoria Vance looked at Ethan and smiled a blood-chilling smile of utter victory. "You saved your son, Hawthorne. But you just doomed eight million souls to burn in his place."

Without another word, Victoria leaned backward and threw herself over the shattered balcony railing, plunging three hundred feet into the churning, black vortex of the river below.

Ethan stood frozen at the edge of the abyss.

Behind him, Sophie gripped his coat, trembling. In Elena's arms, Nikolai breathed softly, alive, but utterly vulnerable. Dante was bleeding out on the steps. And out in the harbor, the colossal dreadnought opened its primary bow silos, eight hypersonic nuclear cruise missiles illuminating the stormy clouds with the blinding light of impending annihilation.

Three minutes on the clock.

No extraction.

May you like

No retreat.

And the ultimate sovereign weapon had just locked its crosshairs directly onto the heart of New York City.
