Chapter 25 - Chaos in the Iron Cathedral

The match burned halfway down the wood, curling into black cinder.

Anna looked at Vincent. Through the haze of rain, fuel, and pouring blood, Vincent’s eyes were clear. He didn't plead for his life. Instead, his lips moved silently, forming three distinct words that carried across the cavernous room straight into her heart:

*Save our boy.*

Anna tightened her grip on the flare gun. "Neither," she whispered.

She didn't aim at Julian. She didn't aim at Elena.

Anna snapped the barrel downward and fired the magnesium flare directly into the ceiling-mounted, pressurized halon fire suppression valve twelve feet above the central floor.

*CRACK!*

The flare struck the pressurized brass valve head with pinpoint accuracy. The impact ruptured the main canister line. A deafening, explosive hiss roared through the hangar as thousands of pounds of high-pressure halon gas and ice-cold industrial water blasted downward in a torrential, blinding white fog.

The shockwave knocked Julian off balance. The wooden match was instantly obliterated by the high-velocity mist.

"KILL THEM!" Julian shrieked into the roaring whiteout.

Gunfire erupted.

Vincent didn't wait for his vision to clear. Driven by pure primal adrenaline, the billionaire launched his heavy frame upward from his knees, tackling Julian at waist level. The impact sent both men crashing across the concrete, their bodies sliding through the kerosene puddle.

Julian’s revolver flew from his grip, skidding under the fuselage.

Behind the blinding curtain of gas, Elena screamed, lunging toward Leo with a tactical knife. "I'll kill him! I'll take him with me!"

"GET AWAY FROM MY SON!"

Anna charged through the pressurized foam like a phantom born of smoke and wrath. She collided with Elena before the blade could touch the ropes binding Leo. Both women crashed into the iron fuselage, fighting with savage, unbridled fury.

Elena slashed wildly, the edge of the blade catching Anna’s forearm, opening a shallow gash that sprayed crimson across her emerald silk. But Anna didn't flinch. The mother who had dragged herself out of a burning fuselage in Aspen felt no pain tonight.

Anna gripped Elena’s wrist, slamming it repeatedly against the jagged steel edge of the jet’s wing until bone cracked and the knife clattered to the floor. Anna drove her palm up into Elena’s jaw with brutal, decisive force. Elena’s eyes rolled back, and she collapsed limp into the puddle.

"Leo!" Anna dropped to her knees, her blood dripping over Leo's hands as she picked up the fallen knife and severed the heavy zip-ties with a single desperate pull.

"Mama! Mama!" Leo threw his arms around her neck, sobbing uncontrollably.

"I have you, my baby! I have you!" Anna pulled him into her chest, shielding his body with her own.

Across the hangar, the battle between titans was far more deadly.

Julian had retrieved a hidden ceramic combat blade from his boot. He slashed viciously across Vincent’s torso, tearing through the kerosene-soaked fabric, scoring deep, bloody lines across Vincent’s ribs.

Vincent grunted, ignoring the agony. He trapped Julian’s wrist in a vise-like grip, spinning him into the reinforced steel landing gear of the gutted aircraft. With a guttural roar, Vincent drove his forehead into Julian's nose, shattering the cartilage.

Julian stumbled backward, spitting blood, grasping blindly toward the edge of an open maintenance pit where four massive electrical industrial cables lay bare.

"If I die, we all burn!" Julian screamed, lunging for the exposed high-voltage breaker switch mounted to the wall.
