Chapter 10 - The Queen Reclaims Her Throne

The grand ballroom was an absolute disaster of spilled wine, broken glass, and discarded luxury food.

Yet for the first time in five years, the air inside the house felt clean, light, and completely free of poison.

Emily stood beside me in the quiet room, her body trembling slightly as the adrenaline of the confrontation began to wash away.

She looked down at her red, swollen hands, a deep sense of sadness and exhaustion still lingering in her eyes.

Without saying a single word, I swept Emily up into my arms, lifting her off her tired feet.

“Daniel! What are you doing?” she gasped softly, wrapping her arms around my neck for support.

“I’m taking care of my wife,” I answered, kissing her forehead gently.

I carried her up the sweeping staircase, past the abandoned master suite, and into the private spa wing of the estate.

I gently set her down on the plush leather chaise lounge and turned on the oversized marble jacuzzi tub, letting the steaming, fragrant lavender water fill the basin.

I gathered soft, warm towels, took a bottle of soothing organic aloe oil, and knelt down on the tiled floor in front of her.

I took her bruised, blistered hands into mine, holding them with the utmost reverence.

“You should never have had to endure a single second of that nightmare, Emily,” I whispered, my voice thick with emotion.

“I am so sorry that my blind trust in those monsters brought this pain to your door.”

Emily looked down at me, tears welling in her green eyes, but this time, they were tears of profound relief and unconditional love.

“You came back for me, Daniel,” she whispered softly, tracing my cheek with her thumb.

“When they told me you had abandoned me, deep in my heart, I knew you would never break your promise.”

“I just kept scrubbing those pans because I wanted to keep this home safe for you until you walked through that door.”

Her words pierced my heart deeper than any betrayal ever could.

Even while being abused, starved of dignity, and treated like a servant, her only thought had been preserving our home for my return.

I slowly reached into my jacket pocket and pulled out the small velvet box that had started this entire journey.

I opened the lid, revealing the breathtaking diamond necklace shimmering under the warm bathroom lights.

The five cascading diamonds caught the light, sparkling with unmatched fire and purity.

Emily gasped, her hands flying to her lips as she stared at the magnificent piece.

“Daniel... it’s... it’s too much...” she breathed out.

“It is barely enough to match the brilliance of your soul, my queen,” I said, rising to my feet.

I gently lifted the heavy platinum chain and fastened it around her neck, letting the diamonds rest against her collarbone.

It did not matter that she was wearing a damp, faded shirt; the necklace looked as though it had been forged by the stars solely for her.

Then, I reached into my inner pocket one last time and pulled out a second legal document prepared by Arthur Vance.

“What is that?” Emily asked, looking at the crisp parchment.

“This is the official restructuring deed of the entire Sterling Empire,” I explained, looking straight into her eyes.

“As of this evening, fifty-one percent of all voting shares, all commercial properties, and this estate are transferred into your name as sole majority owner.”

“From this day forward, nothing happens in our empire without your signature.”

“You are not just the lady of this house, Emily.”

“You are the CEO, the owner, and the absolute sovereign of everything I build.”

Emily threw her arms around my neck, pulling me into a fierce, passionate embrace that washed away every tear, every scar, and every bitter memory of the past.

Outside the high windows, the quiet canyon night was peaceful, the stars shining brightly over the rolling hills of Beverly Hills.
