Claire drew her concealed ceramic blade from her forearm sheath with blinding, inhuman speed.

The edge caught Vance across his right wrist, severing the tendons and sending the detonator flying across the deck.

Vance roared in pain, clutching his bleeding arm as he stumbled backward into the instrument rack.

"Kill her!" Douglas screamed, fumbling to unholster his sidearm from his tactical vest.

Claire grabbed Douglas by the collar, driving him headfirst into the reinforced corner of the server rack.

Bone cracked sickeningly against steel, and Douglas collapsed onto the deck like a sack of wet sand.

High above on the flight deck, a massive detonation shook the entire three-thousand-ton supercarrier.

Miller had triggered the remote EMP charge attached to the auxiliary power conduit.

Every light in the carrier instantly died, plunging the surgical bay into absolute, pitch-black darkness.

Two seconds later, the red emergency battle lamps flickered on, casting long, bloody shadows across the steel walls.

Sirens wailed in rising deafening loops throughout the bowels of the warship.

On the console, a red warning text flashed violently: *MAIN LIFE SUPPORT OFFLINE — MANUAL OVERRIDE REQUIRED.*

A digital counter began ticking down from forty seconds.
