Chapter 10 - The Empire Remade

Six months later, the spring sun was shining brightly over Boston Harbor.
The Bellamy Harbor development project had broken ground, but it no longer bore the name of the disgraced judge’s family. Towering high above the newly opened public waterfront park was a grand brass archway: *The Rossi-Moretti Maritime Reserve.*
Outside the Boston Municipal Registry, dozens of press photographers and journalists were held back by private security barriers. Cameras flashed continuously against the gleaming white granite steps.
The heavy bronze doors swung open.
Dominic Moretti walked out into the warm April sunshine. He was wearing an impeccably tailored navy suit, looking every inch the undisputed king of Boston’s commercial empire. But for the first time in his life, his face was not carved from cold granite.
A proud, radiant smile touched his lips.
Beside him, holding his hand, was Elena Rossi-Moretti. She wore an elegant cream silk wrap dress, her dark hair cascading over her shoulders in soft waves, her wedding band sparkling alongside a simple, understated emerald ring Dominic had personally forged for her in Italy.
And walking down the steps in front of them were four seven-year-old boys.
Leo, Julian, Matteo, and Luca.
They were dressed in sharp matching charcoal blazers, crisp white shirts, and navy trousers, grinning widely at the flashing cameras. Julian, whose heart murmur had been fully corrected by surgery three months earlier, was running ahead, holding Leo’s hand and laughing as the harbor breeze ruffled their identical dark hair.
A reporter from the Boston Globe shouted over the crowd: “Mr. Moretti! With Victoria Moretti residing permanently in Florida and the Barrett family out of the Commonwealth, how does it feel to completely restructure the Moretti dynasty around your new family?”
Dominic paused at the bottom of the steps.
He didn't pull away from the cameras. He didn't order his security to push them back.
He looked down at Elena, who squeezed his hand with quiet warmth, and then looked at his four sons, who had gathered around his legs, looking up at him with unshakeable pride.
Leo reached up and tilted his head, rubbing the back of his neck with his left hand—the exact gesture Dominic had caught in a gilded mirror six months ago.
Dominic laughed, the rich, genuine sound echoing across the plaza. He knelt down, wrapping an arm around Leo and Julian, while Matteo and Luca leaned against his shoulders.
Dominic looked up at the sea of microphones, his voice clear, steady, and carrying across the entire harbor.

“A dynasty isn't built on political alliances or ancient family names,” Dominic said, his eyes meeting Elena’s gaze. “It’s built on the promises you keep to the people you love. My family isn't an empire anymore. It’s simply a home.”
He stood up, took his wife’s hand, and together with their four boys, Dominic Moretti walked down into the sunshine of the city they had finally made their own.
